Prince Charles has really had a tough life, hasn’t he? I wonder if he’s ever done anything, if only for an hour, that could even be remotely considered work? TGO

Prince Charles has a thing for Aston Martins.

His mother the Queen famously gave him an Aston Martin DB6 MKII for his 21st birthday, which he lent Prince William and Catherine Middleton to depart Buckingham Palace after their wedding last year.

And he garnered press in 2008 when he had Aston enable that car to run on biofuel distilled from excess wine produced hear his Highgrove Estate. (He had done similar work with several Jaguars, an Audi and a Range Rover by retrofitting them to run on biodiesel made from cooking oil.)

It was his small part in reducing carbon emissions, he said at the time.

Obviously that DB6 means a lot to him. It’s not for sale. But another of his cars–a hunter green 1994 Aston Martin Virage Volante 6.3-Litre Convertible–is on sale as part of Bonhams’ Aston Martin auction next month in Newport Pagnell, England.

The car debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in 1991 and was loaned by Aston to the prince until until 2008, when it was returned for display at company headquarters in Gaydon.

No word yet from Aston Martin on whether they’ll be upgrading him to something new.
