Religion News in Brief

Can anyone explain to me how an Episcopal bishop (or any other clergyman) can serve in one city for seventeen (17) years, molest a handful of girls during that period, and not get caught/arrested during that entire time; not to mention for the remainder of his life. This is mind-boggling! And we’re not talking New York or Chicago, this is Erie, Pennsylvania; a relatively small city. Were the parents of these girls all so brain-dead that they didn’t notice anything remotely different in the behavior of their children?

The stupidity of the masses never ceases to amaze me. TGO

More claims of sexual assault against former Erie Episcopal bishop

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — More claims of sexual abuse have been made against a former Erie Episcopal bishop after the current bishop publicly discussed the case over the weekend.

The current bishop, the Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe, said in a statement Tuesday that more than five more women contacted him to say they had been molested by the late Bishop Donald Davis.

Rowe released a statement last Sunday that was read in every parish in the Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania saying that Davis had abused four girls. Davis served as bishop in Erie from 1974 until 1991. He died in 2007.

Rowe has asked for anyone who was abused by Davis to come forward.

  1. Well, you know, ‘religion IS the opium of the people’. God? does all their thinking for them.
