28th NATO soldier dies in Afghanistan this week

This ponderous war continues as more and more American soldiers and allied forces lose their lives. So far I am not impressed with Barack Obama’s handling of this conflict. He’s basically following in George W. Bush’s footsteps; both in Afghanistan and Iraq. The only difference being that he has deployed more men to Afghanistan.

When one gets right down to it, all politicians are cut from the same mold. They all talk a lot about what they would do differently (better) than the previous administration, and in Obama’s case stressed “CHANGE,” but in the end they are no different from one another.

In the meantime, the United States population at large is indifferent to the wars in Iraq and  Afghanistan. They’re more interested in what new celebrity will perform in “Dancing with the Stars” and who wins in “American Idol.” TGO

KABUL (AFP) – A NATO soldier was killed in a bomb attack in eastern Afghanistan Saturday, the military said, the 28th to die in the troubled country this week.

The soldier, whose nationality was not released, was part of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), whose estimated 142,000 troops in Afghanistan are set to increase to 150,000 by August.

The death came during a violent week for the military which included the killing of four US soldiers, when Taliban militants shot down a helicopter in the southern province of Helmand.

One Response to 28th NATO soldier dies in Afghanistan this week

  1. Ms Charlemayne Rei-Paku says:

I would like to send a message to our troops fighting in the war over there. I am grateful that we have a strong army. I am sadly under informed. I am 43 years old, a Maori/ Australian. I have 4 grown children and 1 grandchild. I am a member of this global family. I believe that our society would be stronger and more supportive of our troops if we had more education about the war; about the threat to Christianity; about the historical/religious war; more specific information defining our cultural/social place in this war. Where do we stand? Where do I stand in regards to the war? What can I do? I pray that our troops over there are looked after.
