More examples of the mental retardation which results from religious dogma.
Of course, non-Muslims, especially Christians and Jews in the United States, would argue that this fanaticism only occurs in Islamic societies, yet this would be an erroneous assumption. Religion has negatively affected people in every walk of life and corner of the globe since its initiation into barbaric cultures. These backward ideologies have plagued societies throughout the world and continue to do so to this day. TGO

DOHA (AFP) – Five female news presenters at the pan-Arab Al-Jazeera satellite television channel have resigned over conflicts with management over dress code and other issues, a journalist there said on Sunday.
“This collective resignation is not motivated just by the growing pressure on the presenters concerning their dress code, which was evoked by the media,” said the journalist, who asked not to be identified.
“The conflicts run much deeper,” the journalist added.
The news presenters who have reportedly quit are Jumana Namur, Lina Zahreddin, Lona al-Shibel, Julnar Mussa and Nofar Afli.
The Al-Hayat daily reported on Sunday that they had resigned in the past few days after petitioning management in January over repeated criticism from a top company official for allegedly not being conservative enough in their dress.
Management of the Doha-based channel told AFP it would issue a response later.
Established in 1996 by the government of Qatar, Al-Jazeera has revamped the Arab media scene by departing from the traditional government-mouthpiece news style and providing wide news coverage, and becoming a trailblazer for many subsequent channels.
But its editorial line has been strongly criticised by Washington, which has accused the channel of becoming a podium for Islamist extremists, mainly in Iraq, where it has been banned from operating since 2004.
The network has several channels, including Al-Jazeera English.
We don’t know what the circumstances are until we know the full story. I watch Aljazeera and have no idea what this is all about. You can watch Aljazeera online too.
The question though is this: if this was a Japanese News station with “traditional Japanese dress required to deliver the news – play along – and then one or a few decide they want to dress in a manner against the station’s rule. Would this have made the news? Or are we simply targeting any Arab or Muslim country because we have to have an “enemy?”
In the U.S. and Corporate America, the very same thing happens – but again, it does not make the news. Men and women have to abide by certain dress codes. Many a time I’ve seen female colleagues sent home by HR for showing up with shorts, flip-flops or “inappropriate” clothing; and this is on Casual Friday!

I see your point and agree with your assessment. There are situations where casual wear is not considered appropriate, and in corporate America this is definitely the case. The only problem with this is that what is ‘appropriate’ is quite subjective. Nevertheless, by and large I would say that dress codes are not an issue in this country as people are basically free to wear just about anything they wish, within certain obvious parameters of course.
The issue here is that this obsession with women’s attire that the Muslims have is due to religious dogma. In this country our Founding Fathers had a clear understanding of the need to maintain a separation between Church and State. I believe that as a result of this many of us immediately react, and correctly so in my opinion, whenever religious fanatics dictate what is proper attire and what isn’t. This is especially so because it is the women who are always targeted, as naturally, being that religions were invented by men, women have always been the oppressed gender, and Muslims take this to another level!
As far as the “enemy thing” goes, one can argue quite favorably that it is the hard line Muslims who have made the west its enemies and not the reverse.
