They say a picture is worth a thousand words…
Those of us who live in an open and civilized society are really extremely fortunate. Just imagine what it must be like to live in any of these Islamic countries with their Ayatollahs, religious persecutions, the oppression of women, their corrupt governments, etc, etc.
Unfortunately, what is depicted in the photograph below is one of the two extremes. You either have complete control over the population through violence and brutality by those in power, as is currently the situation in Iran (and is what Iraq was like under Saddam Hussein) or you end up with present-day Iraq, in which there is total anarchy. It seems there is no middle ground for these people. TGO

TEHRAN, Iran – A semi-official news agency says Iran’s security forces have warned they will confront any opposition protests on the anniversary of the country’s disputed June presidential election.
The Ilna agency on Tuesday quoted Tehran police chief, Gen. Hossein Sajedinia, as saying “police will confront any illegal gathering.”
Iran’s opposition has called on supporters to mark the June 12 anniversary with massive street protests. The government says it won’t allow the rallies to take place, raising the possibility of more violence.
The opposition says President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won the vote through fraud and that opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi was the rightful winner.
It says about 80 demonstrators have died in the crackdown on opposition protests so far.
