NBC apologizes for omitting ‘under God’ in Pledge

I’ll bet that none of the religious idiots who had their feathers ruffled by the omission of the term ‘under God’ during the Pledge of Allegiance at Sunday’s U.S. Open are unaware of the fact that those words were not in the original wording of the Pledge of Allegiance. In fact, ‘under God’ wasn’t added in the Pledge of Allegiance until 1954!

Bible-freaks need to tone it down a bit, although I realize that their limited world view, resulting from their limited IQ, doesn’t allow them to do so. TGO

BETHESDA, Md. – An omission in the Pledge of Allegiance had NBC issuing an on-air apology Sunday during the U.S. Open.

The network opened its broadcast with a montage that included children reciting the pledge, but the words “under God” and “indivisible” were omitted.

The backlash on social media was quick and harsh, with some tweets calling for a boycott of NBC.

“We began our coverage of this final round just about three hours ago, and when we did it was our intent to begin the coverage of this U.S. Open championship with a feature that captured the patriotism of our national championship being held in our nation’s capital for the third time,” announcer Dan Hicks told viewers. “Regrettably, a portion of the Pledge of Allegiance that was in that feature was edited out. It was not done to upset anyone, and we’d like to apologize to those of you who were offended by it.”

I also heard that the idiots are blaming the fact that “a foreigner” won the tournament on this. It’s amazing how the simple-minded can always point to some “affront to God” as the reason why “bad things” happen. I guess must be suffering from some kind of character flaw, since I’m simply unable to see the “light” of their wisdom.
