Suicide bomber kills three in southern Russia

More of the same from the “peaceful” Muslims… These suicide bombings have become so numerous (almost a daily occurrence in Muslim societies) that people in the West are already desensitized to them. I suppose the thinking is that as long as Muslims continue to blow each other up and we’re not affected, who really cares? Yet in my opinion this is the wrong mindset; we should all care. We all belong to the human race, and ultimately we will all suffer the consequences of the growing Muslim movement.

Never in the history of mankind have there been this many crazy-people belonging to a religious group; and there have been countless religious crazy-people throughout history belonging to numerous religious groups. However, the fact that these particular crazy-people, in such vast numbers, are willing to die for their beliefs should be a warning to all. Sooner or later militant Muslims will get a hold of nuclear or biological warfare and tens if not hundreds of millions of people will die… Once this happens, it will be too late to care. TGO

MAKHACHKALA, Russia (Reuters) – At least three people were killed and 33 wounded on Sunday when a suicide bomber rammed a car packed with explosives into a military camp in Russia’s southern region of Dagestan, the Defense Ministry said.

The bomber tried to drive a Lada car containing about 50 kg (110 lb) of explosives onto a firing range where the 136th Motorised Brigade had set up camp outside the town of Buynaksk, about 50 km (30 miles) west of the local capital Makhachkala.

But soldiers blocked the bomber’s path with a military truck, preventing what investigators said would have been a much more deadly attack had the bomber reached tents where hundreds of soldiers were sleeping.

Russian agencies said five soldiers were fighting for their lives in hospital. Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov arrived in Buynaksk on Sunday.

Russia is struggling to contain an upsurge of attacks in the mainly Muslim provinces along its southern flank by rebels who in March took their war to the Russian heartland with deadly bombings in the Moscow metro.

Local leaders say a potent mix of clan feuds, poverty, Islamic extremism and heavy-handed tactics by law enforcement agencies has driven youths into the hands of rebels who want to create a Sharia-based pan-Caucasus state.

“We have to admit that they (rebels) maintain their combat capabilities and respond to our efforts with daring strikes,” Dagestan’s President Magomedsalam Magomedov told the state Vesti-24 television channel.

There were conflicting reports of how many people were killed by the suicide bomber. State-run RIA news agency quoted sources in Dagestan’s law enforcement agencies as saying five people were killed in the attack.

RIA also quoted a source as saying the incident was a result of violation of security procedures at the base.

“Bigger casualties were avoided only because only one of the two devices exploded,” RIA quoted the source as saying.

Russia’s Dagestan region has overtaken its neighbors as the epicenter of violence in the North Caucasus this year with a wave of bombings and shootings.

Bekmurza Bekmurzayev, a local minister in charge of national, religious and foreign affairs in Dagestan, was wounded on Saturday and his driver killed by a car bomb.
