Bishop Eddie Long to Take Sabbatical

Don’t you just love these evangelical Christian preachers? Is there a more hypocritical character in all religion? These clowns probably surpass even Catholic priests in their insincerity!

At the other end of the spectrum there are the ignorant, idiotic, indoctrinated, brain-dead Christians who give these charlatans their hard-earned money. With the millions that their preacher “friends” rake in every year they buy mansions, expensive (and gaudy) jewelry, summer homes, fleets of expensive automobiles and take long European vacations with their mistresses, along with the occasional prostitute – male or female, it doesn’t really matter to them. Hallelujah!!!

Isn’t faith a wonderful thing? TGO

Associated Press reports Bishop Eddie Long will be taking a sabbatical from his duties at the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. The announcement comes just days after his wife of 21 years filed for divorce. Long’s ministry was rocked in 2010 by accusations that Long had used his position in the church to pressure young men into sexual relationships.

The New Life church boasts 25,000 members. Long’s ministry includes a $50 million complex in the Atlanta, GA, suburb of Lithonia, a credit union and a weekly television broadcast. The ministry is described as “full gospel.” Long is noted for preaching that God rewards believers with wealth. He is also noted for his public opposition to gay marriage.

Long is not the first televangelist to suffer from a sex scandal.

The PTL network and Jim Baaker’s ministry came crashing down in the late 1980s. A sex scandal involving a pretty, young church secretary and Baaker was the first sign of trouble. The Federal government stepped in and put him on trial for fraud. His prison sentence ended the televangelist’s multimillion dollar empire and corresponding life style.

One of the major players in the religious destruction of the PTL ministry was Louisiana’s Jimmy Swaggart. Swaggart was note for casting stones at his fellow ministers, particularly those competing with his ministry for television time and donations. His infamous “Ah have sinned!” television confession revealed his use of prostitutes over many years.

Ted Haggard lost his job with his church and his televised ministry after a sex scandal in 2006. Accused of using a male prostitute and purchase of methamphetamine, his ministry unraveled rapidly. CNN reports that he confirmed the statements made by one male church volunteer about sexual conduct. Haggard condemned homosexuality in his preaching.
