José Baez, the lawyer who’s suddenly famous for his defense of Casey Anthony, said Friday afternoon that “contrary to recent published reports,” he is not negotiating deals for a paid interview with his client.
Earlier in the day, celebrity gossip Web site TMZ.com reported that Baez was at a New York hotel and talking to ABC, NBC and CBS about who would get the first interview with Anthony. TMZ cited anonymous sources who said big bucks were involved.
The Web site also reported that Baez spent part of Thursday night at the hotel bar with celebrity lawyer Mark Geragos, who has represented everyone from Michael Jackson to Chris Brown.
One doesn’t know what to believe anymore as far as the media goes, period. As far as the players go, they are playing the game the way it’s played. Deny everything until the choice not to.
