Judge calls indefinite recess in Casey Anthony murder trial

This case continues to drag… It must be torture for the defendant to sit in court day in and day out as perfect strangers wrangle with one another to determine a “winner,” for what will ultimately prove to be the fate of the rest of one’s life. TGO

ORLANDO, Fla (Reuters) – The Casey Anthony murder trial experienced another delay on Friday when the judge called an indefinite recess after defense attorney Jose Baez asked for time to investigate evidence prosecutors planned to present.

Judge Belvin Perry recessed the trial to allow Baez to interview two prosecution witnesses who the defense attorney said are providing new opinions on the autopsy of Casey’s 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

Baez also told the judge he needs to interview computer experts who prosecutors contend will contradict the defense case, which wrapped up on Thursday without Casey being called to testify.

Casey, 25, is accused of smothering Caylee on June 16, 2008, and dumping her remains in woods near their home.

If convicted of first-degree murder, Casey could face the death penalty.

One Response to Judge calls indefinite recess in Casey Anthony murder trial

How many procedural-violations will the Judge allow the prosecution to do? The prosecution-team has already committed many violations and three of those violations are automatic-reversal on the appellate issues. Failure to corral the prosecution from continuing to violate the court orders needs to be immediately addressed, and why the prosecution no longer appears to seek justice for Caylee is abominable. Jail-time is in order for the prosecution-team. Right TGO?
