Religious/Political Poll: Would you vote for a Presidential candidate who admitted to being an Atheist?

Ready for another poll?

I thought that this would be an interesting one as in my opinion there are fairly large numbers of individuals in the United States who are not really religious as such and probably do not believe in the traditional Judeo-Christian God of the Bible. However, these same individuals may not consider themselves atheists or even agnostics, and may not relate with a political leader who has stated a lack of faith in a Supreme Being. TGO

Oh Great One…As you get older you are getting more and more predictable as I knew that you would not argue my points intelligently but resort to name calling. In Logic, which btw is the study of reasoning, it is considered as the lesser intelligence that needs to resort to it with what’s called. “argumentum ad hominem”, a common fallacy, in which someone argues against a position or claim by assailing the proponent of it. According to Logic, my being a dunce has got no bearing on the validity of the points in my argument. For example, I can be a dunce, and, at the same time, the following statements would still be correct and valid: “atheists can make lousy leaders” or “atheists can make great dictators” or “atheists may be out of touch with the majority of the country” or “voters like to pick winners whether its at the horse track or the election booth” or “religious fanatics may make great ministers”, and so on.
As to your reference to 2008, games change the way they are played all the time as humanities consciousness evolves. The eventual validity, or fallacy, of anyones perspective relies completely on the time allotted for that perspective to be proven or not. There are countless number of men who lived in the last century and stated, “I’ll never live to see a black man in the White House” and were right because they never did live long enough, but by the same token, countless men that had that same perspective were wrong – although they probably died the very night Obama won the election.
Finally, neither the black man, nor the women involved in the 2008 elections were atheists. And the game continues changing on Capital Hill with a new required dimension: the White Man, or WASPS, will not allow a black man, nor woman, to succeed as presidents – they will get no help from them.
I stand by my perspective: I’ll never live to see the day an atheist becomes our president, but as I previously pointed out – not because of any religious implications.

On a more personal note, you asked, “Don’t you ever learn?” You still don’t get it, do you? Obviously, it is you that does not learn…
You see, I am not trying to be who society wants me to be, or pretending to be who my neighbor thinks I am.
If I am someone that always puts his foot in his mouth, or someone that doesn’t stand for anything or someone that doesn’t like to resolve things or someone that is too intense, or a dunce, or someone that is wasting his brain cells, or someone that thinks that all the Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Atheists are wrong about their beliefs because the truth lies elsewhere, or someone that tries to come off as an intellect but instead comes of as an asshole, or someone who believes in love of fellow man or if who I am is not one of those, “who I am”s, then, Duh, that’s who I am. I am not trying to be anything else but me, And if the reader, or you, judge me for being me, well, my friend, you know my philosophy very well and I invite the reader to try it and feel the freedom – JUDGE ME, SEE IF I GIVE A F*CK.

There you go again, trying to come off as an intellectual and failing miserably. Tell me, what would you do without Wikipedia, from where you no doubt copy and paste material for your comments? The least you could do is reference the source.

Some simple advice for the simple-minded: You’re too ‘wordy’. You write a lot but say little. Just remember: KISS (keep it simple stupid). The less you write the better.

GhostRider, once again, when will you learn? When will you learn that you are little competition in most areas, including those having to do with the intellect, not to mention written expression? I realize you’re well aware of your shortcomings; this is why you can’t help yourself and are compelled to criticize many of the posts, and more recently the polls, that I put on my Blog. Hell, you’ve even resorted to attacking individuals close to me; how shameful is that?

Anyway, I know that you especially dislike polls as polls are about answering questions, and since you are non-committal you shy away from questions. Why you are afraid of taking a position and simply answering questions is a mystery, especially when you repeatedly make the claim (a false claim I might add): JUDGE ME, SEE IF I GIVE A F*CK. What you say and what you do couldn’t be any more contradictory.

Anyway, keep the comments coming. I enjoy reading them and get an even bigger “kick” responding to them. If nothing else, it improves my typing speed.

Oh Great One…When you ask, “Ready for another poll”, are you talking to the 45 people out there who voted on the previous polls, or 1st time voters that haven’t wasted there time before? Once again, the choices are contrived. In life there are countless number of games and each game has its own way of being played, and ways of playing them to succeed. Take the game of marriage for example. If one or the other, or both, are cheating on one another, the chances of failing in this game are big. The game of running for presidential office isn’t played that way because an atheists as litte chance of winning and the voter – and I’ll use myself as an example, although I think the majority are like me – like to vote on the winner. Meaning they like to vote for who they think is going to win, we simply like to pick winners whether its at the horse track or the election booth. Atheists do not seek offices like those in the White House because, they themselves do not think they can win. Plus atheists really do make lousy, and I mean lousy leaders because atheists suffer from a mental abnormality, a mental aberration which becomes a disease in some – the same way HIV turns into Aids in some – called skepticism. That would hinder their job immensely because they tend to think that they are always right about everything that they think they’re right about and politics isn’t played that way in the US of A. Skepticism would make a United States president not be able to relate, or be “in touch”, with the majority of the country because, sadly, the majority of the country, is suffering from a similar but quite different, mental abnormality or aberration. The difference is that in this case, the mental aberration is the “cause” for the religious “effect”. In some it also progresses into the disease and hence we the “religious fanatics”. So, to wrap it up, the poll is non-sequiter because atheists do not run for presidents of this country, it’s not the way the game is played. But I must say, they do make great dictators as do religious fanatics make great ministers.

The answer to your question in the first sentence is: YES; which means the 45 previous voters and those who haven’t wasted their time before – both groups can vote.

To your last “point.” The poll is what it is, people can vote or not, it’s their choice. To wrap it up, you dunce, women and blacks never ran for President either; that is until 2008. You always have to put your foot in your mouth, don’t you? Don’t you ever learn?
