April 9, 1972: Chess champ Bobby Fischer on 60 Minutes

Being that I enjoy playing chess and also enjoy reading about great chess players and watching their games being played out, I’ve always been fascinated with Bobby Fischer; his greatness and his decline. After all, he along with Jose Raul Capablanca, the great Cuban world champion, are arguably considered to be the two greatest chess players of all time.

Below are two videos, one from 60 Minutes, filmed prior to Fischer’s world championship tournament against the Russian world champion Boris Spassky, and the other on the Johnny Carson show after he defeated the Russian.

Hope you enjoy the videos. TGO
