The amount of conflicting information on this virus is significant. One thing is for sure, and it is one thing that I do not understand:
Each and every year, more people die from the common flu than have died or will die from this COVID-19 virus. Now, one death is one death too many. But by the same token, when flu season rolls around, there is no panic. There are no business shut-downs, there are no lay-offs. The country (United States) doesn’t come to a standstill, etc. So far, 9154 people have died in the United States from COVID-19. Now, compare those numbers to the following statistics for the influenza (flu) season in 2018-2019:
CDC estimates that the burden of illness during the 2018–2019 season included an estimated 35.5 million people getting sick with influenza, 16.5 million people going to a health care provider for their illness, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths from influenza.
The numbers in the paragraph above are for the United States, not global. With all due respect to those infected with COVID-19 and certainly to those who have succumbed to the virus, sorry folks, things just don’t add up. TGO
