Christians converge on Jerusalem for Good Friday

As Christians celebrate Good Friday, Jews celebrate Passover. Funny how the same region spawned the three main monotheistic religions of the world. Christians and Jews each view Jerusalem as their “Holy City,” while Muslims view it as their third holiest city.

Everybody believes that theirs is the one true faith, when in reality none of them are true. They’re all just man’s invention. TGO

JERUSALEM – The cobblestone alleyways of Jerusalem’s Old City are filling up with Christian pilgrims and clergymen commemorating Good Friday, the day of Jesus’ crucifixion.

Black-robed nuns carrying wooden crosses file past metal barriers erected by police. Dozens of tourists in matching red baseball hats and wielding digital cameras are being ushered past the ancient Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

Good Friday rituals center on the church, where Christian tradition says Jesus was crucified, buried and then resurrected.

While Catholics and Orthodox Christians follow different calendars, this year they coincide and the churches are commemorating Good Friday together.

Jerusalem’s Old City is also full of Jewish worshippers and pilgrims celebrating the festival of Passover.
