Pope calls Belgian police Church raids “deplorable”

What is truly DEPLORABLE, Pope Benedict XVI, is that your corrupt institution with its thousands of criminals (rapists, pedophiles and physical abusers) are protected by their leaders. It is people such as yourself and those that preceded you, along with the rest of the crooked Vatican clan that are the reason why thousands upon thousands of innocent boys and girls have been abused, sexually and otherwise, throughout the globe.

Your hypocrisy is in-excusable. TGO

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) – Pope Benedict denounced on Sunday as “surprising and deplorable” raids by Belgian police on Church offices and the home of a cardinal this week during an investigation into pedophilia by Roman Catholic priests.

In a letter to the head of the Belgian bishops conference, Benedict expressed his “solidarity” after Thursday’s search of two Church offices and the home of a former archbishop, during which computers and files were removed and at least one tomb was opened.

Belgium’s bishops, who were holding a meeting at the time of the raids, were kept incommunicado for nine hours while the searches were conducted.

“At this sad time, I wish to express … my closeness and solidarity for the surprising and deplorable ways in which the searches were carried out,” the pope said in his message.

“I hope that justice will follow its course while guaranteeing the rights of individuals and institutions, respecting the victims, (and) acknowledging those who undertake to collaborate,” Benedict added.

The Vatican protested to Belgium on Friday, expressing “shock” at the way the raids were carried out and “indignation” at what it said was the violation of tombs.

The Belgian Church was rocked in April when the bishop of Bruges, Roger Vangheluwe, resigned and admitted to sexual abuse before and after becoming a bishop. He was the first European bishop to step down for committing sexual abuse of minors himself.

The Belgian Church has apologized for its silence on abuse cases in the past and its new leader, Brussels Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard, has promised a policy of zero tolerance toward predator priests.

The pope and many others, including unbelievers, did not deplore the police’s involvement but the METHODS they used. The article posted here is – as usual – without all the facts of this particular raid. The police unceremoniously drilled open two graves of cardinals in a cathedral. Whatever for?? What did they expect to find there? It contained nothing, no porn, no lists or any Dan Brownish material. The police is also unrailing the work of the secular commission that has been set up to investigate the alleged cases. The psychologist who heads this independant commission is as furious as the pope. His promise to victims of absolute confidentiality in the priliminary stage of investigation has now been compromised, to say the least, and he doubts whther trust will be again established. Again: police methods.

First of all, the articles I post on my Blog are copied verbatim from those written by the press. I then offer MY OPINION, as is my right to do so. Whether in your opinion my statements are not facts as you would like them presented is not my concern. I simply state my perspective on the particular issue; nothing more, nothing less. You certainly have the right to disagree and/or challenge my opinion (as you have done) and I will let your comments stand on my Blog for all to see.

I get your point. Police are expected to follow certain protocols when conducting an investigation. And it would appear (I say appear because neither you nor I know all the facts of the case) that in this instance the police overstepped their boundaries and didn’t adhere to established methods. However, they must have had good reason to do what they did, such as opening the two graves. I seriously doubt they would have gone through the trouble of opening graves if there weren’t justifiable reasons for doing so. Maybe they found information during preliminary investigations to suggest that the graves contained evidence; videotapes, photographs, etc. implicating other church officials.

To summarize, you missed my point. My point is that neither the Pope nor any of his henchmen should condemn the actions of police as deplorable, when in fact it is complicity on their part, as well as carelessness and perhaps incompetency that has saturated the Catholic Church with pedophiles and other misfits. The Vatican’s insistence on Church autonomy in sexual abuse investigations demonstrates that they are not honestly trying to put a stop to these crimes. They may be concerned that police investigations will uncover proof of sexual abuse on a much greater scale than is presently being reported (which is probably true) or possibly that higher ranking Church officials, perhaps some who reside in the Vatican, are themselves guilty of these crimes.
